Getting started

Hosting requirements, installing and updating.

  • What do I need before I install a theme?

Check your hosting first. For Aitpas the minimum is WordPress 6.0, PHP 7.4, MySQL 5.6 and a 128MB PHP memory limit. The recommended values are the latest WordPress, PHP 8.1 or higher, MySQL 8.0 or MariaDB 10.3+, and 256MB of memory.

For a demo import, set max_execution_time to 300 seconds. You can see your current values in WordPress under Tools → Site Health → Info → Server. Every theme lists its own requirements in its guide.

  • How do I install a theme?

Download your purchase. If the download is a bundle, unzip it to find the theme zip, for example anglo.zip. In WordPress go to Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme, choose the zip and activate it.

If you prefer FTP, upload the zip to wp-content/themes/ on your server and extract it there. Before you import a demo, make sure the required plugins are installed and activated.

  • Which plugins does a theme need?

Anglo needs Anglo Core, Sifency Core and Elementor. Contact Form 7, MetForm and MailChimp for WordPress are recommended.

Aitpas lists its own required and bundled plugins in its guide. Install and activate the required ones before the demo import.

  • How do I update a theme?

Back up your site first. Then download the latest package, switch to another theme, delete the old one, and upload and activate the new zip in Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme.

With FTP, upload the new zip to wp-content/themes/ and extract it over the existing folder. These steps come from the Anglo guide.

Themes and demo import

Fixes for the most common import and setup problems.

  • Why do I see a white screen when I import demo content?

Usually max_execution_time is too low. The default is 30 seconds and Anglo needs at least 120. Raise it in one place: set_time_limit( 120 ); in wp-config.php, php_value max_execution_time 120 in .htaccess, or max_execution_time = 120 in php.ini.

If it still happens, send us a support request.

  • The demo import stalls, times out or leaves images out

Raise max_execution_time and memory_limit in php.ini, or ask your host to raise them while you import.

If images are missing, check that your host allows outbound requests (allow_url_fopen) and run the import again. You can also import without media and upload the images yourself.

  • The homepage looks unstyled after the import

Go to Elementor → Tools → Regenerate CSS, then clear any caching plugin.

  • Why can't I save my menu?

WordPress limits how many menu items it accepts in one save, and the demo content has many. Ask your host to add these lines to php.ini: suhosin.post.max_vars 5000 and suhosin.request.max_vars 5000.

  • My imported menus do not show

Open Appearance → Menus and check that the imported menu is assigned to the correct theme location.

  • Why is a smiley displayed on blank pages?

This is usually caused by the Jetpack plugin or by too little server memory. Disable Jetpack, or raise your memory limit.

  • Which PHP settings do you recommend?

Many problems, such as white screens, failed demo imports and empty page content, come from low PHP limits. The Anglo guide recommends at least: max_execution_time 1200, memory_limit 500M, post_max_size 64M and upload_max_filesize 128M.

Change them yourself or ask your host. Your current values are in Tools → Site Health → Info → Server.

  • Theme Options show a warning about write permissions

Set the permissions of the folders wp-content/themes/anglo/assets/css and wp-content/themes/anglo/assets/js to 755.

  • How do I turn widgets on or off?

Go to Sifency Addons → Elementor Widgets. Switch single widgets on or off, or use Enable All and Disable All in a category tab. Then click Save Changes. Turning off widgets you do not use keeps the Elementor panel tidy and avoids loading code you do not need.

  • Why is a Pro widget locked?

Pro widgets need a verified license key. While the license is not active, Pro widgets are switched off and show a locked fallback. Activate your key and they unlock.

  • Which Theme Builder template shows when several match a page?

Exclude rules are checked first: a template that matches an exclude rule is dropped. Among the rest, the rule with the highest priority score wins.

The scores are: a specific post or page ID 110, the front page 100, the WooCommerce shop page 80, a post type archive 75, a taxonomy term 70, all items of a post type 60, all singular items 50, the 404 and search pages 40, category and tag index pages 35, and the entire site 10.

Licenses

Activate, move and re-verify a Sifency Addons license.

  • How do I activate my license?

In WordPress go to Sifency Addons → Dashboard (or Settings) and find the License Activation card. Enter your license key, which looks like xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx, and click Activate License.

The plugin checks the key with the license server and stores a validation token on your site.

  • How do I move my license to another site?

On the old site go to Sifency Addons → Settings and click Deactivate License. This removes the key from that site and releases it in your online dashboard, so you can use it again right away on the new domain.

    Sifency Addons guide
  • Why does the plugin check my license again?

It runs a quiet check every 7 days to confirm that your license is still valid. If a check fails and connection problems continue past the retry window, Pro features are locked until the key is verified again.
