Portnew
General Info
Welcome to Portnew
Thank you for choosing Portnew and for being a valued customer of Sifency! We truly appreciate your support. By purchasing Portnew, you're entitled to free lifetime updates and exceptional support directly from Sifency. This documentation is designed to guide you through every step of customization — please read it carefully to understand how Portnew is structured and how to edit it effectively.
Theme Requirements
Portnew has been tested on Mac, Windows, and Linux systems. Confirm your web host meets the following minimum requirements:
Pre-Flight Checklist
- Verify your web host supports the minimum requirements for WordPress.
- Run the latest version of WordPress, downloaded from the official WordPress website.
- Use secure passwords for FTP and database access.
- For enhanced security, confirm PHP applications run under your account's own username rather than a shared server username (e.g.
wwworwww-data). Ask your host to confirm.
Recommended PHP Configuration
Many common issues — white screens, failed demo imports, empty page content — trace back to low PHP limits. Set these values to at least:
max_execution_time 1200
memory_limit 500M
post_max_size 64M
upload_max_filesize 128M
Adjust these yourself, or ask your host to increase them. Check your current configuration at WordPress Admin → Tools → Site Health → Info → Server. Setting these values ensures a smooth installation process — for optimal security, always use strong passwords and keep WordPress and all plugins updated to their latest versions.
Site Configuration & Troubleshooting FAQ
This section addresses common issues and solutions for configuring and optimizing the theme. If you encounter problems not covered here, please send a support email for assistance.
Why can't I save my menu?
WordPress has a default limit on the number of menu items. Importing Portnew demo content, which includes many menu items, may prevent saving menu changes. Contact your hosting provider and request the following additions to php.ini:
suhosin.post.max_vars 5000
suhosin.request.max_vars 5000
Why is a smiley displayed on blank pages?
This is often related to the Jetpack plugin or insufficient memory settings on your hosting. Disable Jetpack, or increase your server's memory limit — see the WordPress Codex for details. Sites with multiple plugins often require a higher memory limit than the WordPress default, which varies by host and configuration.
Why do I see a white screen when importing demo content?
Usually caused by a low maximum execution time limit. The default is 30 seconds, but Portnew requires at least 120. Increase it using one of:
// wp-config.php
set_time_limit(120);
# .htaccess
php_value max_execution_time 120
; php.ini
max_execution_time = 120
Alternatively, contact your hosting provider to adjust this setting for you. If the issue persists, submit a support email.

| Recommended | Contact Form 7, MetForm, MailChimp for WordPress |
Demo Import
Portnew includes a one-click demo import feature, powered by the One-Click Demo Import (OCDI) system, letting you quickly set up your site with pre-designed demo content.
Before You Begin
Ensure the required plugins are installed and activated:
- Sifency Core — core theme functionality & custom post types
- Portnew Core — core theme functionality
- Elementor — page building
Importing Demo Data
- Log in to your WordPress admin panel and go to Dashboard → Portnew → Import Demo Data.
- Select the demo layout you want to import from the available options.
- Click Import to continue. The process typically completes within a few minutes — feel free to grab a coffee while you wait.
Once the import is complete, your site will be populated with the selected demo content, including pages, posts, menus, and settings.
Data Management Suite
This powerful set of tools is designed for developers and advanced users to create, back up, and restore your website's demo content and theme settings. It provides granular control over every aspect of your theme's data.
File Location
All generated demo files are saved on your server inside your theme folder at .../wp-content/themes/portnew/inc/admin/demo-import/demo-data/.
Export Tools Tab
This tab lets you create or update individual demo files based on the current state of your website — perfect when you only need to change a specific part of your demo package.
Update File vs. Download — each tool has two buttons with distinct functions:
- Update File: takes a "snapshot" of your current website's data (e.g. your widgets) and saves it as a file on your web server, overwriting the existing demo file.
- Download: downloads the file currently saved on your server to your computer. Disabled until a file has been created with "Update File."
| Export File | What It Contains |
|---|---|
portnew-content.xml |
Standard WordPress export (WXR) — posts, pages, custom post types, menus, media library entries, and terms. |
portnew-options.json |
All settings configured in the Portnew Options panel. |
portnew-customizer.dat |
All settings from the WordPress Customizer (Appearance > Customize). |
portnew-widgets.wie |
Active widgets and their sidebar locations, in the standard Widget Importer/Exporter format. |
kit-settings.json |
Global styles and settings (colors, fonts, etc.) from your active Elementor Default Kit. |
portnew-meta.json |
Codestar Framework meta box values from all posts and pages. |
The Admin Panel Backup & Restore utility is a simple way to save and restore the admin options panel's own settings — distinct from the demo content system. Use it to create a quick "save point" of your theme options configuration.
Import Tools Tab
Important
For these tools to work, the corresponding demo file must already exist in the demo data folder. It's highly recommended to import Main Content (XML) before importing other settings, since they often apply to content that needs to exist first.
This tab lets you import individual components of a demo — useful for testing or restoring just one part of your site's configuration without running a full demo import.
All-in-One Actions Tab
Powerful one-click tools for managing all demo files at once, designed for maximum convenience.
Export All Demo Files — the primary tool for creating a complete demo package. Generates all 6 demo files based on the current state of your website, overwriting any previous versions.
Import All Demo Data — runs the entire demo import process in the correct sequence. Requires the "WordPress Importer" plugin to be installed and active.
Warning: This Is a Destructive Action
This tool will overwrite your existing content and settings. It may also fail or time out on shared web hosting or with very large demo files. It's strongly recommended to back up your entire site before using this feature.
Best Practices
Back up your site before importing, and clear your cache afterward so changes are visible immediately.
