Anglo
Welcome
Thank you for choosing Anglo and for being a valued customer of Sifency! By purchasing Anglo, you're entitled to free lifetime updates and direct support from Sifency. This documentation walks through every part of the theme so you can customize it with confidence.
How Anglo Is Built
Anglo is a fully Elementor-driven theme. Headers, footers, subheaders, 404 pages, and single-post layouts are all designed with the Theme Builder and Elementor, so no direct file editing is required to customize your site.
Theme Requirements
Anglo has been tested on Mac, Windows, and Linux systems. Confirm your web host meets the following minimum requirements:
Pre-Flight Checklist
- Verify your web host supports the minimum requirements for WordPress.
- Run the latest version of WordPress, downloaded from the official WordPress website.
- Use secure passwords for FTP and database access.
- For enhanced security, confirm PHP applications run under your account's own username rather than a shared server username (e.g.
wwworwww-data). Ask your host to confirm.
Recommended PHP Configuration
Many common issues — white screens, failed demo imports, empty page content — trace back to low PHP limits. Set these values to at least:
max_execution_time 1200
memory_limit 500M
post_max_size 64M
upload_max_filesize 128M
Adjust these yourself, or ask your host to increase them. Check your current configuration at WordPress Admin → Tools → Site Health → Info → Server.
Installation & Setup
After purchasing and downloading Anglo from ThemeForest, extract the download and locate anglo.zip. Install using either method below.
Method 1: WordPress Upload (Recommended)
- Log in to your WordPress admin panel and navigate to Appearance → Themes → Add New.
- Click Upload Theme → Choose File, select
anglo.zip, then click Install Now. - Click Activate.
- Install and activate every plugin listed in the prompt — they're required for Anglo to function correctly (see below).
Method 2: FTP Upload
- Extract
anglo.zipto reveal theanglotheme folder. - Log in to your server with an FTP client.
- Navigate to
/wp-content/themes/in your WordPress root. - Upload the extracted
anglofolder into thethemesdirectory, then activate it from Appearance → Themes.
Required Plugins
Install and activate Sifency Framework first — it's critical for core theme functionality — then Anglo Core, which provides custom post types (Portfolio, Testimonials, etc.). Without these plugins, key theme elements will not work.
File Permissions
If write permissions aren't set for folders containing CSS/JS files, Anglo Theme Options will show a warning. Set permissions to 755 for:
wp-content/themes/anglo/assets/csswp-content/themes/anglo/assets/js
Updating the Theme
Always back up your site before updating.
- Manually: download the latest package, deactivate and delete the old Anglo theme (after switching to another theme), then upload and activate the new
anglo.zipvia Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme. - Via FTP: upload the new
anglo.zipto/var/www/htdocs/wp-content/themes/and extract it on the server, replacing the existing folder.

Troubleshooting FAQ
If your issue isn't covered here, visit the Sifency Support Center.
Why can't I save my menu?
WordPress caps the number of menu items, and Anglo's demo content includes many. Ask your host to add the following to php.ini:
suhosin.post.max_vars 5000
suhosin.request.max_vars 5000
Why is a smiley displayed on blank pages?
Usually caused by the Jetpack plugin or insufficient server memory. Disable Jetpack, or raise your memory limit — see the WordPress Codex.
How do I optimize my site?
Run a performance audit with GTmetrix, then adjust performance-related settings under Anglo → Anglo Options.
How do I translate or rename theme labels?
- Use Poedit to edit translation files, or
- manually edit
en_US.poinwp-content/themes/anglo/languages/.
Why do I see a white screen when importing demo content?
Typically a low max_execution_time (default 30s; Anglo needs at least 120s). Fix it with one of:
// wp-config.php
set_time_limit(120);
# .htaccess
php_value max_execution_time 120
; php.ini
max_execution_time = 120
If the issue persists, submit a ticket to the Sifency Support Center.
